The Arntjen Adjustable Walling System is a revolutionary way of providing fully adjustable ventilation using the vertical elevation of the building. It has been extensively used on the Continent in more extreme conditions of cold and heat than we experience in the UK and has proved to be extremely versatile, very long lasting and economical to use.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The system is based on purpose made curtains that run up to the full length of the building, they can either be fully opaque or semi-opaque dependant on the light levels required when they are closed. They can easily be lowered by rolling them up at the bottom, either manually or with an electric drive. Inside a fly screen is required to keep insects out of the building. When combined with the Arntjen Vented Ridge Light they create the most efficient and variable ventilation system on the Market.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

They are manufactured from hard wearing polyethylene or PVC, with the non corrosive metal components either aluminium or stainless steel. The standard height is 2 m but they can be doubled up to give 4m of opening. It is advantageous to construct a good sized overhang at the eaves to help reduce the times when the curtains have to be raised to stop rain penetration. Opening and closing the system in combination with opening and closing the exhaust ventilation channels in the Arntjen Vented Ridge Light can be computer controlled, based on temperature, wind speeds and moisture limits set by the farmer.

INSTALLATION

The system is very easily fixed either on a new building or as a retrofit to an existing building. In most instances the cost of the system is lower than traditional walling such as bricks, blocks and even Yorkshire Boarding, and yet it is fully adjustable. This versatile system will ensure that even in the depths of winter or the heights of summer the ventilation can be adjusted so that the livestock are not bothered by cold stress or heat stress, nor do they have to suffer condensation dripping on to their backs, cold draughts or damp cold conditions.

As we know the happier the livestock are the more productive they are likely be and since it costs less to install than normal walling used in a traditional farm building, the pay back will be very fast.
